I first came across the sea buckthorn plant when I was climbing in Tibet. Revered for its medicinal and nutritional properties, Tibetans refer to it as a "holy fruit". Known to help skin regenerate, the berries are crushed and included in a homemade salve used to treat burns and wounds, and heal cracked skin from the cold mountain air. Tea is made from the berries and leaves, believed to be a beneficial probiotic for digestive health.

Vogue magazine recently published an article extolling the virtues of this wonder plant.

Collectively, the fatty acids Omega-3, 6, 7, 9, are known as the "Beauty Omegas" for their ability to support skin health by maintaining hydration, protecting against environmental pollution, and stimulating collagen production at a cellular level.

In particular, Omega-7 fatty acids are especially effective at improving collagen and elastin production. Think of collagen as your skin's scaffolding and support structure that prevents sagging, and elastin as the bounce back factor that prevents wrinkling and the formation of fine lines.

However, Omega-7 is hard to come by in the natural world, found in only a handful of sources. Of these sources, sea buckthorn has the highest concentration of Omega-7 in nature.

Omega-7 rich oil is extracted from the seed and berry of the sea buckthorn plant, and is a key ingredient in our Sidekick Serum.
