founder story
I once spent ten months of the year in a sleeping bag on a mountain somewhere. The longest I have gone without a shower (TMI, I know!) is 26 days when I skied across Greenland. In my time as a sponsored climber, I’ve led an all-women’s team to the top of Mount Everest, and became the first female from Southeast Asia to climb the Seven Summits, the tallest mountains on each of the continents. I suffered frostbite on my cheeks on Mount Everest (not fun!), and since then became really conscientious about skincare. The weight in my pack was always at a premium, but I dutifully lugged jar upon jar of skincare products up and down mountains. These days I surf and kite, but the environmental stressors are just as present.
I kept switching between skincare brands and realized there wasn’t a company focused on truly understanding the specific skincare needs of women who like to sweat it out and play outdoors AND look good doing it! If anything, we need great skincare the most!
I spent time as a biotechnology investor, and researched probiotic fermentation as a method to increase the functionality and bioavailability of ingredients. I wanted to formulate skincare as prevention, focusing on strengthening the skin microbiome at the cellular level at its very foundation. Most of all, it must be effective for women who face the elements, whether it is for an hour, or a month; a quick jog in the park, or a badass heli-skiing expedition.
Add in a team of talented PhD scientists, a long process of ingredient sourcing to find only the best (looking at you, sea kelp grown in the ocean in Tasmania!), and Stoke Skincare was born.
Our skincare is based on rigorous scientific research, uses only premium botanical ingredients, and is made in Australia in tightly controlled small batches using probiotic fermentation technology.
If you walk a mile or run fifty, get your highs climbing, or dive deep into the sea, if a good day is a sweat day, then we made this for you.
Take us on your adventure, and we'd love to share your stoke.
xoxo,
Jane
