Welcome to Your Skin Microbiome

The microbiome is the collection of microorganisms—like bacteria, viruses, and fungi—that live in and on the body.

Your skin is the largest organ of the body and it plays a critical role as an environmental barrier, keeping good things in and bad ones out. A healthy skin microbiome keeps moisture in, and environmental aggressors (e.g., pollution, solar radiation) out.

A healthy skin microbiome is the foundational building block of skin health, and results in the positive effects we love - healthy, glowing, well hydrated skin.

How microbiome skincare works

Microbiome skincare works by providing beneficial pre, pro, and postbiotics that support a healthy ecosystem of microbes on our skin so that they can do their job of being an effective barrier.

A weakened skin barrier leads to accelerated moisture loss and increased penetration of environmental pollution and aggressors, resulting in aging, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, dryness, and inflammation. Skincare that focuses on the skin microbiome targets these skin concerns at the most fundamental level.

Small batch, precision fermented ingredients

Fermentation is an ancient technique for food preservation. Natural yeast and bacteria break down complex sugars and starches to create molecules that enhance flavor or increase functionality. Yogurt, cheese, beer, and wine are just some of the fermentation-derived foods we know and love.

Applied to skincare, fermentation has the ability to change the composition of a plant material to increase the bioavailability of target nutrients, or digest macromolecules like polysaccharides into smaller molecules to allow for deeper penetration into the skin, thereby increasing ingredient functionality.

We use premium botanical ingredients known for their bioactive properties. Naturally derived, vegan, and no nasties, ever.

Tasmanian Sea Kelp

Powerhouse of bioactive compounds. Loliolides stimulate antioxidant response to combat environmental stress; phenolic compounds neutralize free radicals for anti-aging; stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis to repair UV damage

Sea Buckthorn

Known for its unique ability to support skin regeneration to prevent ageing. Rich in Omega 3,6 and 9, as well as the rarer Omega-7 to boost hydration and collagen production

Kakadu Plum

Most concentrated natural source of Vitamin C in the world. Skin brightening superstar that has evolved naturally to resist harsh sunlight and contains powerful antioxidants that protect against UV damage

Kangaroo Paw Flower

Rich in ferulic acid which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles and helps reduce hyperpigmentation. Also works to boost collagen production to improve skin texture and elasticity

Santalum Acuminatum Fruit

Oat kernel oil is deeply hydrating and boosts ceramide levels in skin. Oat Beta-Glucan is a beneficial prebiotic tha rebalances and restores the skin barrier

Ectoin

Potent, clinically proven active ingredient that locks in moisture and protects skin barrier from free radicals, air pollution, and climate concerns

Niacinamide

Stimulates collagen production, increases skin elasticity, helps build keratin to strengthen skin barrier. Clinically proven to brighten and even out skin tone

3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid

A form of stable Vitamin C, which can increase collagen production and luminosity and provides antioxidant protection from free radical damage. Clinically proven to fade dark spots and pigmentation

Lactic Acid

Mild alpha-hydroxy acid that gently exfoliates and promotes skin cell turnover to fight aging and improve appearance
and texture
